TODAY: The hottest day in the forecast with highs in the 100s for the entire area. 103° would tie the record high for Lubbock and we may break it. Southwest wind a light breeze 10-18mph with a sunny sky.
THIS WEEKEND: A front will stall out across the panhandle with a little cooler temperatures north of it. Unfortunately this looks to stay north of Lubbock, so highs continue near triple digit heat. There is a low chance for isolated showers and storms to develop along that front late in the day. The heat continues Sunday with a little more cloud cover and a slim chance for showers and storms to push out of New Mexico in our area late in the day.
NEXT WEEK: Another front on the way this time it looks to move through much of our area bring highs down to the upper 80s and low 90s. Also this brings a chance for showers and storms for our area, but it doesn't last long with sunshine by Wednesday. Still some discrepancy with temperatures into next week, but at least it does look a little cooler.
Have a great Friday! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
