Thursday: 138 new COVID-19 cases; two additional deaths; 68 more recoveries

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 138 new positive COVID-19 cases, two additional deaths and 68 more recoveries Thursday. It has been more than two weeks since the city reported more than 100 positive cases.

There are currently 1,540 active cases in Lubbock County. The active number of cases includes those reported by Texas Tech. More detailed data on COVID-19 cases specific to Texas Tech can be found - here.

The total case count is 7,173. 5,536 people have tested positive and since reported a recovery. 97 people have died from the virus.

90,418 tests have been administered in Lubbock. This include people who traveled here to get tested. While their tests are included in the test total, their cases are reported back to their home county. The overall positivity rate is now at 9.9 percent.

70 people are being treated in Lubbock hospitals for COVID-19, including 33 people in ICUs. More than 400 beds are open for any procedure.
