Wednesday: 60 new COVID-19 cases; one additional death; 54 more recoveries

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 60 new positive COVID-19 cases, one additional death and 54 more recoveries Wednesday. 

There are currently 1,472 active cases in Lubbock County. The active number of cases includes those reported by Texas Tech. There are currently 87 active cases - 68 of those students, the other 19 staff members. More detailed data on COVID-19 cases specific to Texas Tech can be found - here.

The total case count is 7,035. 5,468 people have tested positive and since reported a recovery. 95 people have died from the virus.

89,584 tests have been administered in Lubbock. This include people who traveled here to get tested. While their tests are included in the test total, their cases are reported back to their home county. The overall positivity rate is now at 10 percent. 

During the city's weekly COVID-19 update, Mayor Dan Pope said our current data is "stabilized" and numbers are improving when it comes to hospitalizations and new case numbers. 

66 people are being treated in Lubbock hospitals for COVID-19, including 32 people in ICUs. More than 400 beds are open for any procedure.
