Possible record highs to end the week, latest on Hurricane Laura

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Another repeat day for our area with the high nearing 94 and sunny. Clear sky tonight with the morning temperatures dropping to the 60s. No major changes for the rest of the forecast with hotter temperatures on the way with possible record highs. Looking ahead into next week a possible front will be near our area with low rain chances. The rain chance doesn't look promising, but it may help temperatures to drop a little.

HURRICANE LAURA: As of 7:30am this is a Category 3 Hurricane with maximum wind speeds of 115mph and moving northwest at 15mph. Through the overnight hours this hurricane has become better organized with a defined eye-wall. This major hurricane will be impacting the coast line of southeast Texas & Louisiana. Heavy rainfall, 9-15 foot storm surge, and damaging wind expected with this storm moving inland tonight. Mandatory evacuation along the Gulf coast. By tomorrow morning this storm will be moving north along the state line dumping heavy rainfall and still bringing strong wind.
