Suspect shot, hospitalized in Andrews County after trying to rob Gebo's store

ANDREWS COUNTY, Texas -

A suspect is hospitalized after he was shot attempting to rob Gebo's Monday night, according to the Andrews County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Jordan Isreal Duran, 26, entered the store in the 1600 block of South U.S. 385 when he lured an employee into the restroom of the store. According to deputies, once in the restroom Duran pulled a handgun on the employee and threatened to shoot him, then tied up the employee.

Another employee and customer went to check on them when investigators say Duran pointed his gun at them and started threatening them. The employee, who has a license to carry, drew a handgun and fired at Duran striking him in the abdomen.

An employee then called 911 and law enforcement and EMS were dispatched to the scene. Duran was taken to Permian Regional Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. He was then transferred to an Odessa hospital for treatment. 

He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.
