The latest project - developing a safer firefighter helmet. What spurred this research was the tragedy on January 11, which killed two first responders and seriously injured a firefighter. The professor at Texas Tech leading the effort says the first step is to understand how a firefighter's helmet is used during vehicular extraction scenarios. Second - evaluate the effect of the weight and profile of the helmet, positional stability and the risk of head and neck injuries. The Republican National Convention is underway
Last night, GOP delegates officially named President Trump their party's nominee - who delivered an opening speech to make his case for a second term. This year's conventions have been mostly virtual. However, President Trump, unlike his democratic contender Joe Biden, made a trip to his convention's original city where he formally secured his party's nomination after the official roll call. President Trump also appeared with front-line workers battling the coronavirus and Americans who were hostages of foreign nations, and freed during his administration. Democrats are counter-programming this week, sharing stories of people who they say have been harmed by President Trump, using the hashtag, "Trump Chaos."
