Friday: 68 new COVID-19 cases, 41 more recoveries

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 68 new positive COVID-19 cases and 41 more recoveries Friday.

There are currently 1,478 active cases in Lubbock County. The total case count is 6,818. 5,248 people have tested positive and since reported a recovery. 92 people have died from the virus.

758 tests were administered today to a total of 84,493 processed since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 8,552 have tested positive, including people from other counties who came here for testing, for an overall positivity rate of 10.1%. There are 330 tests pending results.

72 people are being treated for the virus in Lubbock. Of those, 36 are in the ICU, the other 36 are considered floor patients. There are nearly 500 beds for any purpose at hospitals.
