Young entrepreneurs celebrate Lemonade Day this year online

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Young Entrepreneurs are celebrating Lemonade Day online this year.

Thursday was the national day, with no stands on the street. Instead, it's 'Lemonade Day My Way', an app that walks families through implementing the concept online.

Lemonade Day is intended to teach kids how to run a small business, including building a plan, getting loans and providing service. It also teaches kids how to handle money, where they spend some, save some and donate some.

Organizers say Lemonade Day My Way still teaches the same concepts and can effectively teach modern small businesses.

"Lemonade day is one of those experiences that a lot of time people look at and say 'oh that's so cute.' It is cute but they are also learning some life skills that are indelible forever," Glenda Mathis, with the YWCA, said.
