Tuesday: 49 new COVID-19 cases; two additional deaths; 83 more recoveries

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 49 new positive COVID-19 cases, two additional deaths and 83 more recoveries Tuesday.

There are currently 1,609 active cases in Lubbock County. The total case count is 6,656. 4,958 people have tested positive and since reported a recovery. 89 people have died from the virus.

923 tests were administered today to a total of 82,256 processed since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 8,369 have tested positive, including people from other counties who came here for testing, for an overall positivity rate of 10.2%. There are 325 tests pending results.

78 people are being treated for the virus in Lubbock. Of those, 29 are in the ICU, the other 49 are considered floor patients. There are nearly 500 beds for any purpose at hospitals.
