A Clovis man was found guilty of battery on a peace officer while he was being searched by police last year.

Investigators say Tyler Phillips, 35, had known warrants out for his arrest. Police report an officer was patrolling the area of 10th Street and Calhoun we he spotted Phillips. That's when, according to investigators, Phillips started to take off but was quickly apprehended by the officer.

During a search, police say Phillips threw his head back and struck the officer in the face. Officers were able to complete the search and arrested Phillips.

He was found guilty of battery on a peace officer and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
