The ridge of high pressure builds across the southwestern US this week. For the South Plains this continues the summer heat with low rain chances.
TODAY: A few afternoon/evening storms will be possible to our west near the state line. This activity may produce high wind gusts and maybe small hail. Most of our area continues to stay dry with the high near 98. Southerly wind will be a light breeze from the south 10-18mph.
TONIGHT: Rain chances diminish after the sunsets, then partly cloudy. Another mild morning with 70s continuing.
TUESDAY: Like today with a few storms possible and highs in the upper 90s and 100s.
EXTENDED: Hot and dry conditions continue the rest of the week with highs climbing to the 100-105 degree range. This will be near the record highs Friday and Saturday. We will be watching a possible front this weekend that may bring rain with highs dropping to the 90s Sunday.... still hot...
Have a great Monday! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
