Monument of Courage dedication honors veterans, service members wounded or killed in combat

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Another solemn commemoration Friday for veterans and service members wounded, or killed, in combat.

The City of Lubbock dedicated the Monument of Courage this morning. It's an addition to the Lubbock Area War Memorial, recognizing Medal of Honor recipients and Gold Star families, who've lost loved one to combat.

"We owe the Gold Star families a debt that we can never repay. Never. They're missing their loved one but we honor the sacrifice," Benny Guerrrero, Commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars, said.

A flyover was in the 'missing man' formation to honor an airman who's still considered missing in action. Lieutenant Colonel George Davis' remains are in a museum in China.

Guerrero says the VFW has asked President Trump to negotiate his return home.
