Hot, dry days ahead

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

A few areas picked up rain yesterday with most of the area staying dry. Kind of the same set up for today with showers and a few storms near the state line then diminished into the evening hours. Some brief downpours with higher wind gusts possible from this activity. Otherwise get ready for another hot day with highs back in the upper 90s and a few 100s. Southerly wind will be a little breeze 10-20mph. Current radar below for this afternoon:
South Plains Radar

TONIGHT: Rain chances diminish after the sunsets with a partly cloudy sky, low near 72.

WEEKEND: Lower rain chances with a stray shower or storm possible near the state line. It will continue to stay hot with upper 90s.

NEXT WEEK: No relief from the heat with lots of sunshine and mild night temperatures.

Have a great Friday! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine. Make sure to tune in Saturday for the 45th Texas Boys Ranch Telethon. You can watch on FOX34, in the FOX34 News App, and on our Facebook page from 6 to 11 PM.
