Thursday: City reports 148 new positive COVID-19 cases; 1,722 active cases now in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 148 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 133 more recoveries Thursday. No additional deaths were confirmed, with the number of people who've died from the virus remaining at 80. 

The last time the city reported more than 100 coronavirus cases was July 30. 

There are now 1,722 active cases, with 4,157 confirmed cases now listed as recovered. 5,959 people have been infected with the virus in our county since mid-March.

1,201 tests were administered today, for a total of 74,642 tests processed since the start of the pandemic. Out of those, 7,579 have tested positive, including people from other counties who came here for testing, for an overall positivity rate of 10.2%. There are 1,064 tests pending results.

There are 103 people hospitalized -- seven more than yesterday. Of those, 51 are in specialized intensive care and 52 others are "floor patients."
