Tuesday: City reports 99 new positive COVID-19 cases; 1,841 active cases in Lubbock County

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 99 new positive cases of COVID-19, 128 more recoveries and one additional Tuesday. 79 people have died from the virus.

There are now 1,841 active cases, with 3,831 confirmed cases now listed as recovered. 5,751 people have been infected with the virus in our county since mid-March.

955 tests were administered today, for a total of 72,380 tests processed since the start of the pandemic. Out of those, 7,380 have tested positive, including people from other counties who came here for testing, for an overall positivity rate of 10.2%. There are 191 tests pending results.

There are 99 people hospitalized -- two less than yesterday. Of those, 51 are in specialized intensive care and 48 others are "floor patients."
