Washington D.C. -

The Department of Justice is allocating more than $35 million to provide housing to victims of human trafficking.

That money comes from the Office for Victims of Crime, a component of the DOJ.

The grants will go to 73 organizations to provide anywhere from six to 24 months of transitional or short-term housing assistance for trafficking victims. That includes assistance with rent, utilities and related expenses, such as security deposits and relocation costs.

The grants also provide funding to help victims secure employment or occupational training and counseling.
