Wednesday: City reports 74 new positive COVID-19 cases; 1,959 active cases in Lubbock County

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 74 new positive cases of COVID-19, and 108 more recoveries Wednesday. The number of people who have died from the virus remains at 75.

There are now 1,959 active cases, with 3,294 confirmed cases now listed as recovered. 5,382 people have been infected with the virus in our county since mid-March.

There were 1,025 new tests administered, for a total of 68,312. Of those, 6,738 have tested positive, including people from other counties who came here for testing, for an overall positivity rate of nearly 9.9%.

There are 108 people hospitalized, two less than yesterday. Out of those, 48 are in specialized intensive care and 60 others are "floor patients."
