LUBBOCK, Texas -

Helping is Buckner's M.O. The non-profit serves vulnerable families and children on the South Plains, throughout Texas and abroad.

In Lubbock, it helps at-risk families through four programs. Two of those are preventative, plus foster care and adoption.

"The Buckner Family Hope Center typically offers in-person classes, activities, and family coaching to strengthen at-risk families and keep them from falling apart, and keep children out of foster care," Program Director Angelina Mojica said.

All of those are now virtual and have adapted with the use of technology. The non-profit offers classes, activities and family through Buckner Family Hope Center.

The Family Pathways and the Foster Youth Independence Center serves single moms and kids aging out of the foster care system.

"Our team at the FYI center also helps children who are aging out of foster care have been very busy engaging the children they work with on a regular basis to help them graduate high school, start college, move into their first apartment, or get their first job," Mojica said.

A Buckner family was involved in a virtual adoption in April making it the first of its kind in Lubbock. Foster care and adoption meetings are now online, along with virtual classes for moms and foster care licensing programs.

Everything Buckner does is thanks to its donors, but the non-profit encourages others to get involved.

"Your aid in a situation is going to help a family stay together," Mojica said. "It's going to help a family continue to have hope, continue to be able to preserve among all these challenges that none of us have any control over."
