Isolated areas of rain today, more rain possible next week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

It was another day with isolated showers and storms for the South Plains. Here are a few of the rain totals picked up from the Tech Mesonet:
Gail 0.88"
Snyder 0.87"
Seminole 0.35"
Colorado City 0.27"
Paducah 0.22"
Post 0.07"

TODAY: Another chance for these isolated afternoon showers and storms that will diminish into the late afternoon/evening hours. Most of the area will be dry, but areas of brief heavy rain possible within the cells. High nearing 92 with a light southeasterly wind.

Current radar:
South Plains Radar

TONIGHT: Low chances for rain and partly cloudy with lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.

WEEKEND: Mostly sunny and drying up, but an isolated shower or storm can't be fully ruled out. Highs continue around the seasonal average with lower to mid 90s.

NEXT WEEK: A cold front moves into our region and with it a chance for rain. Starting to our north near Amarillo Monday, then pushing into our area late Monday through early Wednesday. This does look to be better coverage then the isolated spots we have dealt with last few days. Highs might drop with the rain and clouds Tuesday in the upper 80s and low 90s, then we look to heat up by the end of next week.

Have a great Friday! Robert in with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
