Monday: City of Lubbock reports 70 new COVID-19 cases; 1 additional death; 35 more recoveries

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The City of Lubbock health department reported 70 new cases of COVID-19 and 1 new death Thursday. This brings the total number of cases to 4,552. Of those, 2,216 are active. Now, 66 people have died from the virus.

35 additional recoveries were reported, with 2,270 people listed as recovered.

109 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment in Lubbock. 

The city reported it has updated its interactive COVID-19 dashboard in its ongoing quest to keep citizens informed with the most up-to-date and user-friendly information. A total of 58,276 tests have been conducted since mid-March. The rate of positive tests results is 9.3%, that includes people traveling from other counties for testing.

Due to the recent changes to the city's COVID-19 dashboard, the number of pending tests is not available. 

Due to challenges receiving testing supplies, the opening of the COVID-19 testing site at Walgreens in Lubbock has been delayed. It is tentatively rescheduled to go live on Saturday, August 1.
