Hot next few days, nearing average highs next week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Yesterday we tied the 4th longest streak where highs where in the 100s. Today we will likely add one more with the high nearing 101, this will be tied with the 3rd longest. Sunshine expected with mid and high clouds late in the day. Southwest wind changes south and stays light at 8-15mph.

WEEKEND: Morning temperatures will be in the 70s, then nearing 100 Saturday. Again, if we make it to 100 we will tie the second longest streak. Temperatures will start to drop more by Sunday with mid and upper 90s in the area. Very low chance for some isolated light showers pushing from New Mexico and diminishing in our area late in the days. Overall expect to stay dry.

NEXT WEEK: Well highs continue to look better than the 111° we had earlier this week. Highs staying in the mid 90s, lows expected to be in the lower 70s. Some clouds in the area, but continuing to stay dry.

Have a great Friday! Robert filling in for Matt tonight on the News at Nine.
