Thursday: City of Lubbock reports 145 new COVID-19 cases; 1 additional death; 7 more recoveries

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 145 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death Thursday. This brings the total number of cases to 4,209. Of those, 2,077 are active. 65 people have died from the virus.

Seven additional recoveries were reported, with 2,067 people listed as recovered.

101 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment in Lubbock. 38 patients are in specialized intensive care units and 63 others are considered "floor patients."

Four people in their 50's have died; all other deaths are people who were 60 or older.

There were 989 new tests administered in Lubbock County, with a total of 55,800 tests conducted since mid-March. Out of those, 5,069 have confirmed positive results, including people traveling from other counties for testing. 1,188 tests are pending results.

Due to challenges receiving testing supplies, the opening of the COVID-19 testing site at Walgreens in Lubbock has been delayed. It is tentatively rescheduled to go live on Saturday, August 1.
