LUBBOCK, Texas -

There are now 42 inmates at the Lubbock County Detention Center who've tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office. Two additional cases are jailers.

Earlier this month, Sheriff Kelley Rowe provided an update on current cases within the jail, saying it's used to dealing with infections on a daily basis. At that time there were only 25 reported cases.

Now, LSO reports 168 inmates are currently isolated and 12 inmates are pending test results.

Two jailers have tested positive for the virus, with five total jailers who are also isolated pending tests results.

Currently, there are about 1,300 inmates detained at the center.

All jails in Texas are required to submit daily COVID-19 reports to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. Daily totals for all Texas county jails can be found - here
