Tuesday: City of Lubbock reports 109 new COVID-19 cases, 121 more recoveries

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 109 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 3,932. Of those, 1,924 are active. 63 people have died from the virus. 

121 additional recoveries were reported, with 1,945 people listed as recovered. 

As the surge in cases continues across the state, Gov. Abbot extended the disaster declaration for all Texas counties. The disaster declaration was originally issued on March 13. 

104 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment in Lubbock, 43 patients are in specialized intensive care units and 61 others are considered "floor patients." 

Four people in the 50's have died; all other deaths are people who were 60 or older. 

There were 1,100 new tests administered in Lubbock County, with a total of 52,325 tests conducted since mid-March. Out of those, 4,527 have confirmed positive results, including people traveling from other counties for testing. 1,187 tests are pending results. 

Due to challenges receiving testing supplies, the opening of the COVID-19 testing site at Walgreens in Lubbock has been delayed. It is tentatively rescheduled to go live on Saturday, August 1.
