Two records set Tuesday, not quite as hot next few days

Posted: Updated:

This morning's low in Lubbock was 86. Provided a storm doesn't bring some cooler air just before 1 a.m. Wednesday (records are on standard time), this will set a new record for all-time warmest morning. What's remarkable is the previous record was 81.

This afternoon it reached 111 in Lubbock, which sets the record for today's date and the month of July. The all-time hottest afternoon record stands at 114. Records go back to 1911.

There are a few small showers trying to pop up late this afternoon. There is a low chance for a shower or storm into tonight.

TONIGHT: Warm again, low near 79, party cloudy.

TOMORROW: Still plenty hot, just not as brutal as the last couple days. High near 103. With a SE wind there will be more humidity. Slight chance for a shower or storm late tomorrow.

LOOKING AHEAD: No break from the hot pattern, with the temperature near 100 rest of this week and upper 90s over the weekend. Also no good sign of rain any time soon.

Have a great rest of your day and stay cool. Bobby will have a forecast update here early tomorrow.
