Texas Tech wide receiver Caden Leggett was arrested Saturday night for street racing. According to the police report, an officer saw three vehicles speeding northbound on Indiana Ave. near 98th Street. 

The officer pulled over the vehicle driven by Leggett, and he admitted to the officer he had been racing. He was arrested and has since bonded out of jail. The sophomore from Georgetown, Texas, played in 11 games for Texas Tech last year.

Lubbock police have been working to crack down on street racing in recent months. Police Chief Floyd Mitchell told FOX34 it has become a serious problem with incidents of drag racing significantly increased over last year. Three men were indicted in a street racing crash that killed a man in February.

Texas Tech Athletics released the following statement Thursday afternoon:

Texas Tech Athletics is aware of an incident involving members of its football program from this past weekend. At this time, Texas Tech continues to gather facts regarding the situation and will handle the matter in accordance with the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct process.
