Lubbock County Commissioners bracing for 'conservative budget'

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock County Commissioners had their first look at each department's proposed budgets Wednesday and will now begin making cuts.

Commissioners expect the revenue projects for next year sometime later this month.

The county's auditor already told commissioners to anticipate a "conservative" budget.

County Judge Curtis Parrish says it will be a "needs" budget, not a "wants" budget.

Judge Parrish adds he doesn't expect to cut on maintenance budgets, he says that will let the county remain a good steward of what it already has.

The entire budget must be submitted by the end of September.
