Wednesday: Lubbock at 2,457 COVID-19 cases; 1,329 active; 1076 recoveries and 52 deaths

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department reported 184 new cases of COVID-19, the highest number of confirmed cases reported in a single day. This brings the total number of cases to 2,457.

The health department also reported 162 additional recoveries.

There are now 1,329 active cases, with a total of 1,076 recoveries from confirmed cases. seven more people were hospitalized for treatment.

There were 1,057 new tests administered in Lubbock County Wednesday, for a total of 40,385 since mid-March. Out of those, 2,970 have confirmed positive, including people traveling from other counties for testing. That carries a positive rate of 7.4 percent.

There are 59 people hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment in Lubbock, with 25 patients in specialized intensive care units and 34 others considered "floor patients." The city reports hospital capacity has dipped again, now below 500 open beds for treatment.
