LUBBOCK, Texas -
A Lubbock man has pleaded guilty to murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the 2017 fatal shooting of 20-year-old Peter Caballero.

Investigators say they do not believe Richards is the person who actually murdered Caballero, but faced the murder charge because he was an active participant in the incident.

Investigators say Prince Tariq Richards shot Caballero near 9th and Ave. V after robbing a friend of his during a Facebook marketplace exchange.

After the robbery, the murder warrant indicates Richards drove around the corner, Caballero gave chase and Richards reportedly shot him before driving off.

Richards was later arrested November 26 near 46th and Elgin. That arrest brought to light charges of an accused robbery of his aunt in September.

During that incident, court documents indicated Richards tried to pick her pocket while in her home, struggled with her, then threw her on the ground and ran. He was later indicted for that crime.

Investigators are still working to identify other suspects who were involved in the murder.
