LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department confirmed 54 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the total number of cases to 2,095. Of those, 1,158 are active, two less than yesterday.

The health department reported 58 new recoveries, where the number of recoveries is 886. 51 deaths have been attributed to the virus.

There have been 38,076 tests administered in Lubbock. Of those, 2,740 have come back positive with 64 tests pending. There were 399 additional tests conducted since yesterday. The number of tests administered following the surge in cases has caused a shortage of tests at UMC's drive-thru screening site, causing it to close. It has been permanently closed since Saturday, June 27.

41 people are hospitalized with 21 floor patients and 20 in the ICU, one more than yesterday.

There remains ample available hospital capacity, with more than 500 beds available.

Much more detailed data can be found through the city's COVID-19 dashboard
