LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department confirmed 57 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the total number of cases to 2,041. Of those, 1,160 are active, the most active number of cases in a single day.

The health department reported no new recoveries, where the number of recoveries remains at 830. 51 deaths have been attributed to the virus.

There have been 37,955 tests administered in Lubbock. Of those, 2,634 have come back positive with 89 tests pending. There were 722 additional tests conducted since yesterday. The number of tests administered following the surge in cases has caused a shortage of tests at UMC's drive-thru screening site, causing it to close. It has been permanently closed since Saturday, June 27.

41 people are hospitalized with 22 floor patients and 19 in the ICU.

There remains ample available hospital capacity, with fewer than 500 beds available.
