Trending hotter next few days

Posted: Updated:

THIS AFTERNOON: It's hot with some high clouds and maybe even some haze. Computer models that handle dust show a little bit of the Saharan Dust up into West Texas today, but tough to say if there's much out there. Yes, there's been plenty of discussion on this over the last week. Partially because it's 2020 and what else will happen, haha. This dust pattern typically happens each year, it's just that this surge of dust has been among the thickest tracked by satellite last few decades.

Out to the west there are some thunderstorms from Santa Rosa to Roswell, slowly drifting eastward. An isolated storm is possible to the west/northwest of Lubbock later tonight. Here is current FOX34 VIPIR:

TONIGHT: Low near 69, partly cloudy. Wind SE/S 10-20mph.

SATURDAY: Warm and partly cloudy, high near 93. Wind S 10-20mph. Slim chance for a storm tomorrow evening or tomorrow night, slightly better chance west, near the state line.

HOTTER DAYS: Sunday should reach the upper 90s, then up around 100 for a few days next week. The south wind will also stay breezy through at least Tuesday. We can't rule out an isolated storm on any of the next few days, but the chance for widespread rain will remain low.

There may be a little more support for afternoon storms by next weekend.

Have a great weekend. Bobby will have a full update posted here late tomorrow.
