Texas Tech implements mandatory face covering policy

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Texas Tech University announced Wednesday it has implemented a mandatory face covering policy for all students, faculty and staff. 

The university tweeted it's "taking into careful consideration all options to provide the safest learning and teaching environment" for the fall semester. 

The policy is system-wide requiring all members of the university community to wear face masks, including visitors, vendors and contractors. 

Exceptions include eating or drinking, children under the age of two-years-old and in classrooms where instructors can maintain a distance of six feet from students or audience.
