Monday: Lubbock at 1,407 COVID-19 cases; 736 active; 620 recoveries and 51 deaths

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock health department confirmed 87 new COVID-19 cases Monday. This brings the total number of cases to 1,407. 736 cases are active, with the number of active cases continuing to trend upward. 

The total number of recoveries is at 620. The number of people whose death is attributed to the virus remains at 51, with one death reported in the last month.

There have been 30,996 tests administered in Lubbock. Of those, 1,784 have come back positive with 566 tests pending. There were 223 additional tests conducted since yesterday, which is the lowest test count in more than a week. The positive rate of all tests had been below 4.7 percent a few weeks ago. It is now at 5.75 percent. Some of these tests are for people who live in other counties but were tested here.

No new hospitalizations were reported. Currently, 19 people are hospitalized with 7 floor patients and 12 in the ICU. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, Lubbock is using only a small portion of available hospital capacity; there are nearly 600 beds open for treatment.
