It was hot Sunday, reaching 98 in Lubbock and triple digits at many locations west of the city. There are some severe storms in Kansas and Oklahoma this evening. A front is on the way, which will cool things down in a couple days.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and breezy to windy, S/W 12-25mph. Low near 68.
MONDAY: Hot, but not quite as hot as we've thought the past few days. It now looks like a front will move through middle of the day, shifting the wind around out of the NE. It'll be a breezy day. It'll likely reach at least 100 again for the southwestern South Plains and Southeast New Mexico. While areas northeast of Lubbock will likely top out in the lower 90s.
There might be a few storms that pop up in the afternoon. There should also be some storms popping up in New Mexico that will move this way tomorrow evening into tomorrow night. So the main timeframe for storms Monday across our area is 7 p.m. to Midnight.
NEXT FEW DAYS: High in the mid 80s Tuesday, with a chance for storms in the afternoon and at night. The storm chance is a little lower Wednesday.
Then it looks like it'll get hotter and breezy by the weekend. Some good news...looking at the rain chance for our area, the chance is a little bit better over the western South Plains. This is where we've largely missed rain past couple months.
Have a great rest of your Sunday. Bobby will have a full update here tomorrow morning.
