LUBBOCK, Texas -

One kid received a pleasant surprise Wednesday in the form of an X-Wing Fighter.

Jayden Yocum was chosen by the Lubbock Arts Alliance to have his wheelchair modified to look like the iconic fighter from Star Wars.

After the Lubbock Arts Festival was canceled over fears of COVID-19, Covenant Children's and Texas Tech physicians partnered with the alliance to make the wheelchair.

"He is really excited for Halloween. He's excited to have a wheelchair costume that will overall encompass. He wants to be Elvis astronaut. He has already decided he wants to take it out and pretend to be an astronaut and blast off in it," Claire Yocum, Jayden's mother, said.

Elizabeth Grigsy with the art alliance says its important for the group to reach out to community members since many of their events have been canceled.
