Three arrested after shooting in Hockley County

Three men are in jail after Levelland Police responded to a shots fired call near Avenue C and 8th Street yesterday evening.

Reports indicate police found 45-year-old Roland Paredez suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Police say Paredez told officers that he had a confrontation with three black males who followed him home, and during the time of the confrontation, one of them displayed a handgun. Paredez told police he and his friend ran home, then shortly after entering the home, gunshots were heard and Paredez noticed he had been shot.

Video evidence was located identifying the suspect vehicle and suspects. The video also showed a small infant child with the suspects at the time of the argument. Shortly after, the suspect vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of North MLK and West Monroe.

The suspects, 20 year-old Jacariay Ford, 44 year-old Darryl Miller and 42 year-old Detrick Miller were taken into custody and transported to the Hockley County Law Enforcement Center where they were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, organized crime, and endangering a child

The victim was transported to Covenant Hospital Levelland by Levelland EMS then transferred to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock where he underwent surgery. There is no update to his condition at this time.

The suspects could face additional charges as a result of the reckless conduct of shooting into the home.
