LUBBOCK, Texas -

This story has been updated to reflect a correction: Haley Tallmon and Nathean Nipp were not charged in relation to the crash that killed Howard Wright. We regret the previous mistake.

Five people have been indicted in a street racing crash that killed 69-year-old Howard Wright in Late February.

Xavier Montalvo, 19, Anthony Martin, 28, and Luis Salinas, 24, are charged for racing on a highway causing death.

Wright's children filed a lawsuit against the men charged.

The lawsuit is against the men and a car club, Muscle Mayhem, which all three men were a member of. Court documents blame Salinas and Martin for Wright's death. Documents also hold the social club responsible for using the internet to encourage and promote street racing.

Montalvo, Martin and Salinas were arrested in early March for their involvement in the crash near 75th and Slide on Feb. 24.

If convicted, Montalvo, Salinas, and Martin face up to 20 years in prison.

Additionally on Tuesday, the Lubbock grand jury indicted Haley Tallmon, 19, and Nathean Nipp, 20, with racing on a highway causing bodily injury. Their charges stem from a crash in April 2019 near 50th and Bangor resulting in minor injuries.
