Storms returning this weekend, cooler next week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Another sunny and hot day for the South Plains, highs in the 90s with a light westerly wind. Severe storms east of our area and into North Texas and southern Oklahoma.
Current Temperature

TONIGHT: Clear sky with the low near 62.

WEEKEND: Dry line active in our area again with the potential for storms, some strong to severe storms possible. In case you have outdoor plans this weekend make sure to plan ahead and keep storms in mind, because they could quickly develop in the afternoon and evening hours. Wind speeds becoming gusty Saturday 15-25mph, then drops a little Sunday. Highs still in the 90s with more upper 80s common Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: More storms will be possible with a cold front move in the area early Monday. This front will drop highs to the 70s, and doesn't move too much through next week. Upper level low looks to get cut off from the main jet stream, then slowly pushes south across Texas later in the week. Interacting with Gulf moisture, this system continues the chances for more showers and storms later in the week.

Have a great Friday! Matt with the next update to the forecast tonight on the News at Nine. Robert will keep you updated through the weekend.
-Bobby
