COVID-19 testing required at all state hospitals, state supported living centers

AUSTIN, Texas -

Governor Abbott has mandated testing at all state supported living centers and state hospitals.

Every patient, resident and staff member at the state's 23 facilities will undergo a COVID-19 test. That includes the state supported living center here in Lubbock.

The governor says this will help prevent them from becoming "hot spots" and says it protects those fragile population.

In Texas, there are 13 state supported living centers and 10 state hospitals. They sever 4,700 patients and employ 18,000 Texans.

As of Wednesday, the state reports 161 patients have tested positive across the Texas with 107 recoveries and 10 deaths.
