A hot day for our area with near triple digit heat possible in our southern counties. Nearing 97 in Lubbock with a mostly sunny sky and a light southerly wind. There may be an isolated high based shower develop, but because the surface is dry likely no precipitation will reach the ground.
TONIGHT: Low near 64 with a clear sky.
TUESDAY: Pretty much a repeat of today, but temperatures differ between models as we will have a stalled front in our area. If the front moves through Lubbock we may be a little cooler, otherwise upper 90s again.
EXTENDED: Wednesday looks like the better day for some isolated storms to develop in our area as the ridge of high pressure pushes east and another system moves across the Rockies. High temperatures to drop a few degrees with upper 80s and low 90s common. Looking into the Memorial Day weekend, long range models are still figuring our if we get a better chance for rain or if we will stay dry.
Have a great Monday! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
