TX appeals court blocks efforts to prevent counties' allowing mail-in voting

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

A Texas appeals court is blocking Attorney General Ken Paxton's attempt to stop counties from allowing mail-in voting.

Wednesday Paxton asked the Texas Supreme Court to order the rejection of applications to vote by mail from people concerned with catching the coroanvirus at polling places.

His request came after officials in some cities approved measures to allow voters to claim a disability and request mail-in ballots if they are worried about getting sick while voting in person.

A lawyer for the Texas Democratic Party accused Paxton of trying to "upset the election process".
