Texas Tech climatologists hosts discussion during virtual 'Science by the Glass'

LUBBOCK, Texas -

During a discussion hosted by world renowned Texas Tech climatologist Katharine Hayhoe, she predicted the coronavirus pandemic is going to have an effect on the environment.

Hayhoe hosted a virtual Science by the Glass discussion Tuesday evening. It's a program at Tech's Climate Science Center where researchers usually meet over drinks at a bar.

In her Q&A, Hayhoe said explaining the climate's impact on the world relies on "bringing it home" and showing how it affects things in our every day lives.

Hayhoe said there's a bipartisan bill in Congress to impose a carbon tax. She says that's one of the most effective and free market ways to reduce emissions.

Data shows that's a critical step to reducing our impact on the environment.
