LUBBOCK, Texas -

While H-E-B isn't open in Lubbock yet, that didn't stop the grocery chain from donating 300 chef inspired meals to Covenant and UMC hospitals Thursday afternoon.

Store leader Garrett Stauder says it's important for the staff to show its support to frontline workers helping those affected by COVID-19 and saving lives.

"We may not have a store here yet, but we do have partners here. Not just myself, but two others currently living in our Lubbock community. At the end of the day we want to be able to support our communities the best that we can," Stauder said.

The store is scheduled to open this fall on the southwest corner of 114th Street and Quaker Ave.
