Virtual national day of prayer planned Thursday

Posted: Updated:

The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and Lubbock Congressman Jodey Arrington will celebrate the National Day of Prayer virtually Thursday.

The gathering will be held via Zoom and will be broadcast on The Network Breakfast Facebook page.

"We need that West Texas spirit," Lubbock Mayor Dan Pope said. "We need that sense of community and pride to help our neighbor. We need to bring everybody together as we continue to work back towards normal, or whatever normal is going to be. I think prayers is a big part of that."

It is estimated that more than 2 million people will attend more than 30,000 observances of the national day of prayer organized by nearly 40,000 volunteers this year.
