LUBBOCK, Texas -

A Lubbock man has been indicted accused of killing a 10-month-old girl.

Trevor Rowe, 27, is charged with the capital murder Marion Montoya.

Police say Rowe took his girlfriend's daughter to work with him, put the baby in a backpack and left her in his car.

After a few hours, on his lunch break, Rowe told police he saw that the baby had gotten out of the bag, so he said he crammed her back in, zipped it and put the bag in the trunk of his car.

When his shift was over, Rowe said he found the girl wasn't breathing. Investigators say Marion was likely in the bag for at least five hours.

Rowe is held on a $2 million bond and, if convicted, he faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
