Record heat and breezy today & Saturday, milder next week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

We have some clouds across our area with milder temperatures. Mostly sunny through this afternoon with temperatures climbing to the upper 90s with a few 100s (Record 96). The wind will increase from the southwest and like yesterday 12-22mph. There is a chance for an isolated high based shower or storm in our eastern counties. If these develop still not likely to have precipitation, but higher wind gusts likely.

TONIGHT: Clouds clearing our with temperatures staying mild in the 60s. Wind speeds will stay a light breeze 10-18mph.

WEEKEND: Another record setting day with the highs again in the upper 90s and low 100s. More sunshine with the wind shifting westerly and staying breezy. A weak front will drop highs a few degrees Sunday... still hot and well above average.

NEXT WEEK: Finally a break from the heat and it looks to stay milder after Monday. Wind speeds stay on the breezy scale with dry conditions through Wednesday. Late in the week might have a chance for rain in our area . Still a ways away to confirm we will get this, but something to keep an eye on.

Have a great Friday and weekend! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
