It reached 90 this afternoon in Lubbock and will get hotter next few days.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear, low near 63. Wind SW 10-20mph.
TOMORROW: High near 99. Record for the date is 96, last reached in 2012. The SW wind will kick up 12-22mph. In the intense heat of the afternoon a few isolated showers may try to pop up, especially east of Lubbock. But these won't bring meaningful rainfall, just gusty wind.
LOOKING AHEAD: Another record-setting day is likely Saturday, high again near 99. A weak front will knock a few degrees off the high for Sunday, followed by upper 90s again Monday.
It's too far away for anything promising, but at least we're starting to see some consistency in a pattern change for the middle to latter part of next week. Some humidity should return and it looks like there will be some support for storms. It's not a sign of widespread rain, which we could certainly use. But it's at least a hint there could be some rain on the way. Until then, just hot and dry.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update posted here early tomorrow.
