THIS AFTERNOON: It's warmed to the mid to upper 80s this afternoon, which is only a preview of the heat we'll have this week. An isolated storm is possible well east of Lubbock next few hours. There are storms down in the Permian Basin to the mountains of SW Texas. There is a severe thunderstorm watch down that way tonight.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear, low near 59. Wind SE/SE 5-15mph.
TOMORROW: Hot, high near 95, wind SW 10-15mph much of the day. That will become a north wind late tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening. The wind will get a little stronger.
That wind shift is the next front moving across our area. There could be an isolated storm east of Lubbock. There is a risk for severe storms across North Texas up into Oklahoma tomorrow.
HOT WEEK: Behind the front Wednesday's high will be near 80. Then it really heats up, with upper 90s to lower 100s Friday and Saturday.
Here are the record highs next few days, with the year it was last reached on that date in parenthesis.
Tuesday 94 (1992)
Thursday 94 (2013)
Friday 96 (2012)
Saturday 97 (2012)
Sunday 98 (2012)
It should stay plenty warm into early next week.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here tomorrow morning.
