Tahoka police officer arrested, accused of official oppression

TAHOKA, Texas -

 A Tahoka Police officer was arrested and charged last week on allegations of official oppression.

Texas Rangers issued an arrest warrant for Tahoka Police officer William Jayce Baker. He was booked into the Lynn County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, April 14 after the initial investigation into the accused offense.

The investigation is still on-going.

Official oppression is a crime for a public servant to use their office to deny someone their rights or mistreat someone. It's punishable by a possible $4,000 fine and jail time of up to one year.
